On April 14, famous Uzbek actress Barno Teshaboeva celebrated her 55th birthday. She is widely known not for her personal image, but for the legendary character “Alfiya Kampir”.
She was born in 1971 in Olmazor village, Chinaz district, Tashkent region, Uzbekistan. She was the sixth child in a family of eight. From childhood, Barno was imaginative, curious, and drawn to the stage. The early loss of her father and her hardworking mother shaped her personality.
She enjoyed acting, staging scenes, and creating “scripted games” with neighborhood kids. However, she disliked housework and preferred freedom and creativity.
A dangerous childhood incident nearly took her life when she almost drowned in a canal. She survived thanks to chance and a strong will to live, calling it a turning point in her life.
Her passion for art grew stronger after watching a film that inspired her deeply. She began writing letters to studios, dreaming of becoming an actress.
The path was not easy. She was even told she would not be able to enter a technical school. Still, she did not give up and later entered the acting world.
Her breakthrough came with the character “Alfiya Kampir”, created at the age of 18 while she was a student. The character later became widely popular through the comedy show “Kalpok”.
Her participation in “Kalpok” made her widely recognizable. Many people started calling her “Alfiya” instead of her real name. The role became so strong that it overshadowed her personal identity.
In interviews, she says she has no regrets. Not every actress is remembered for beauty — sometimes one powerful character lasts forever.
Today she continues her artistic career, but her main legacy remains “Alfiya Kampir”.
