Matyoqub Matchonov and Ra’no Yarasheva Awarded the Title of People's Artist of the Republic of Uzbekistan

Renowned and beloved figures of Uzbek cinema and theater—film actor Matyoqub Matchonov and actress of the Uzbek National Academic Drama Theater Ra’no Yarasheva—have been awarded the honorary title of "People's Artist of the Republic of Uzbekistan." This was announced on May 28 in the President's decree "On awarding representatives of the sphere of culture, art, and literature."
In addition, actor Uchqun Tillayev and musician of the Maqom ensemble Abdurahmon Xoltojiyev were also awarded this high title.
Matyoqub Matchonov was born in Tashkent in 1956 and made his screen debut in 1980 with the film "Dahoning yoshligi." He won the hearts of fans with his roles in films such as "Bozor ko‘rmagan yigit," "Tilim qursin," "Mening akam bo‘ydoq," and "Sotqin." The actor was previously awarded the title of "Honored Artist of Uzbekistan" and the Order of Friendship.
Ra’no Yarasheva was born in the Samarkand region in 1961. She began her career in the theater as a makeup artist and later became known as an actress. She is well-known to audiences for her roles in the films "Mehrobdan chayon," "Sohibqiron," and "Uvaysiy." To date, the actress has participated in over 20 films and plays.
