Muruntau remains the 1st gold reserve in the world
The international press has published notable articles about Uzbekistan's mineral resources. In particular, the Egyptian news agencies "Akhbarna" and "Misr Al-An", as well as the Mining.com portal, have published articles about the Navoi Mining and Metallurgical Combine (NMMC) and its famous Muruntau mine.

The world's largest gold reserves are in Uzbekistan

The articles note that the Muruntau mine has the world's largest gold reserves. According to estimates, it has 4,500 tons of gold reserves, which puts it in first place in the world.

In 2024, Muruntau ranked second in gold production in the world - 2 million 676 thousand 2 ounces of gold were mined here during the year.

Internationally recognized discovery

The Muruntau deposit is of great importance not only economically, but also for the geological sphere. According to Jasur Abdullaev, an international mining specialist and director of Hydrometallurgical Plant No. 2, who spoke about this, one of the largest geological discoveries of the second half of the 20th century was associated with this deposit.

“This achievement was consolidated by the construction and commissioning of Hydrometallurgical Plant No. 2. Today, this plant is one of the largest gold-producing enterprises in the world,” the specialist emphasizes.

Integral industrial cluster - a new economic environment

The material notes that the activities of NKMK include not only the mine, but also an entire industrial cluster. It includes the Muruntau deposit, modern hydrometallurgical plants, water structures stretching from the Amu Darya to Zarafshan, and an industrial city.

This project is not only of strategic importance, but has already become one of the pillars of the Uzbek economy. Currently, the Muruntau deposit has reached a depth of 675 meters and an area of more than 5 kilometers. Since the start of operations, 2 billion cubic meters of ore have been extracted, and a project to expand it to a depth of 1,000 meters is currently being implemented.

Production of mining equipment has begun in Uzbekistan

Another important news is that for the first time in Uzbekistan, the production of heavy mining equipment has been launched. This initiative is being implemented in cooperation with the Navoi Machine-Building Plant and the Zarafshan Repair and Maintenance Plant.

This step will play an important role in strengthening Uzbekistan's position in the world mining equipment industry and will serve to increase local production potential.

The Muruntau deposit is becoming one of the heartlands of the geology and mining industry not only in Uzbekistan, but throughout the world. Thanks to gold reserves, modern production infrastructure and strategic plans, this project is one of the main sources of economic future of the country.
