Uzbekistan entered the TOP-5 leagues of the world in gold mining

Statista has published a list of the world's largest gold deposits for 2024. In this ranking, two deposits of Uzbekistan - the Muruntau and Almalyk complex - entered the top five, Statista reports.

The Nevada Gold Mines deposit in the USA is listed as the leader in the list. In second place is the Muruntau mine of Uzbekistan - it is the largest gold mine in all of Central Asia. In third place is the Grasberg deposit in Indonesia, and in fourth place is the Olympic deposit in Russia. In fifth place is another project of Uzbekistan - the Almalyk complex.

This result is assessed as the result of Uzbekistan's active reforms in recent years to modernize the mining industry and increase export potential.

According to experts, Uzbekistan is strengthening its position as one of the leading countries in terms of gold production not only in the region, but also in the world.

The ranking also includes the Kazzinc deposit in Kazakhstan, the Ahafo deposit in Ghana, the Loulo-Gounkoto deposit in Mali, and the Kibali deposit in Congo.

The Muruntau deposit is recognized as one of the oldest and richest gold reserves in the world, and Almalyk is distinguished by its processing capabilities based on modern technologies.
