Why did Uzbekistanis reduce their import of cement?

In January-September 2025, a total of 72,000 tons of cement were imported to Uzbekistan from 13 foreign countries, the Statistics Committee reported. The value of imported cement amounted to 4.4 million US dollars (approximately 55 billion soums).

According to the committee, this figure decreased by 548.1 thousand tons compared to the same period last year. In other words, cement imports decreased by almost 8.6 times.

The largest quantities of cement were imported from Kazakhstan (33,739 tons), Iran (31,218 tons), Kyrgyzstan (2,653 tons), Tajikistan (2,516 tons), and Russia (1,152 tons). The remaining 755 tons of cement were imported from other countries.
