Cashless trade in Uzbekistan will increase banking resources

In Uzbekistan, starting from April 1, 2026, the purchase and sale of real estate and automobiles are planned to be carried out in a cashless form. According to Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance Ahadbek Khaydarov, this step can annually bring funds of 60–100 trillion soms into the banking system, which, in turn, will strengthen competition in the credit market and contribute to a decrease in interest rates.

“If we take the price of one car as 200 million soms and 100 cars are sold in a day, 20 billion soms will enter the banking system. If 1000 cars are sold — it will be 200 billion soms,” Khaydarov said at a press conference on March 27. In his opinion, on an annual basis, these figures will increase further, creating a large volume of “cheap resources” for banks.

Khaydarov emphasizes that this process will create strong competition among banks. To attract clients, banks will be forced to improve the quality of their services and ease conditions. “If 20 billion soms circulate daily in the bank account, these funds will be directed to loans, and as a result, credit resources will become cheaper,” noted the deputy minister.

In addition, according to Deputy Minister of Justice Muzraf Ikromov, about 5.4 million notarial acts are carried out annually in Uzbekistan. Of these, 320 thousand relate to real estate, and 650 thousand relate to the purchase and sale of automobiles.

It should be recalled that from April 1, 2026, in Uzbekistan, fuel, alcoholic and tobacco products, communal and state services, as well as real estate and cars under 10 years old, will be sold only in cashless form. Furthermore, any goods and services with a price exceeding 25 million soms can also be purchased only via cashless payment.

This step will not only increase liquidity in the banking system but also create favorable conditions for the population and entrepreneurship, contributing to a competitive and sustainable economic development.
