Foot fungus (mycosis) is an infectious disease of the skin and nails caused by fungi. It often appears between the toes, on the soles, or on the nails, causing itching, redness, dryness, and peeling. Poor hygiene, wearing damp shoes, and using public baths or pools are common causes of infection.
The main treatment is antifungal medication prescribed by a doctor. These can be creams, ointments, sprays, or oral tablets. Treatment usually lasts several weeks or months. It is also important to disinfect shoes and socks and keep feet dry.
Natural remedies may also help: tea tree oil, apple cider vinegar, and aloe vera gel have antiseptic properties that can reduce fungal growth. Soaking feet in warm water with salt or baking soda is also beneficial. However, natural methods should only be used as a supplement, since the main treatment must be prescribed by a doctor.
