On April 4 in Samarkand, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev officially opened the first “Central Asia — European Union” summit with an introductory speech, president.uz reported.
At the beginning of his remarks, the President noted that the summit is taking place amid unpredictable global developments.
“Our meeting is being held under conditions of rapid and unpredictable global processes. We are witnessing geopolitical tensions, security challenges, regional conflicts, and increasing threats to sustainable development.
It is clear that no region can address such complex issues independently without broad international cooperation,” said the President.
He emphasized that Central Asia and the European Union are traditional partners, and the demand for mutual cooperation is steadily growing. Uzbekistan, he added, remains committed to the principles of international law.
Mirziyoyev welcomed and fully supported the launch of negotiations for a peaceful resolution of the situation around Ukraine.
“We understand that very complex and difficult issues lie ahead. However, we see no alternative to diplomatic efforts and political decisions,” the President concluded. Follow “Zamin” news on “Telegram”
