As a result of operational measures to combat the illicit trafficking of precious metals, a number of violations were revealed in the territories of Bukhara region, Fergana region, and Andijan region. These operations were carried out jointly by law enforcement agencies and put an end to the chain of illegal actions.
In particular, employees of the State Security Service Department for Bukhara region, together with customs and internal affairs bodies, held a special event in the Shafirkan district. Two individuals, born in 2001 and 2005, were apprehended with material evidence while attempting to sell a 110-gram non-standard gold ingot for $17,000.
During the event, the address of the person who converted this precious metal into an alloy was also checked. Gold smelting equipment, special chemicals, as well as oxygen and liquefied gas cylinders were found there. According to experts, the value of the confiscated gold bars amounted to about 210 million soums.
During the next operational event in the Fergana region, a foreign citizen born in 1980 who entered the country through Tashkent International Airport was examined. It was revealed that he was attempting to illegally smuggle gold items weighing 226 grams, with a total value exceeding 290 million soums, hidden in his leg. All jewelry was registered within the framework of the law.

A similar situation was recorded in the Andijan region. A citizen, born in 1997, was checked upon entering the country through the Do'stlik checkpoint. It turned out that he had 241 grams of undeclared gold items with an estimated value of 400 million soums. According to the investigation, these products were imported from Turkey through Kyrgyzstan and planned to be sold in the domestic market.
Currently, material evidence on all cases has been sent for examination, and an investigation is underway. Criminal cases have been initiated against the offenders, and the investigation is ongoing.
Specialists emphasize that the elimination of such situations will not only ensure economic security, but will also contribute to the formation of a fair competitive environment in the domestic market.
