In Matchweek 27 of the Saudi Pro League, Al-Nassr secured a 2–1 win over Al-Riyadh, with 40-year-old Cristiano Ronaldo scoring both goals. His second goal, in particular, caught the attention of fans around the world.
Piers Morgan: “We should have signed Ronaldo”
Famous British journalist and lifelong Arsenal fan Piers Morgan shared his reaction on social media after Ronaldo’s brilliant brace:
“The sad part is Arsenal didn’t listen to my advice. When Cristiano left Man United, he was ready to join us. Had we signed him then, we probably would have won the league three times.”
He added that Ronaldo remains one of the best finishers in world football.
Advice given — but ignored
Morgan had previously urged Arsenal management to bring Ronaldo to the club, but the move never materialized. Instead, Ronaldo went to Al-Nassr.
Now Ronaldo boasts: 933 official career goals, the title of top scorer in football history and each goal adds to his incredible legacy.
What are fans saying?
Football fans are split:
- “If Ronaldo had joined Arsenal, we would have been champions,” some say;
- Others argue: “He’s 40. We need fresh, young talent.”
One thing is clear — Cristiano Ronaldo is still igniting the game. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
