Refereeing errors in the Super League: two main referees receive serious punishment

After the completion of the 8th round of the Uzbekistan Super League, several controversial refereeing decisions emerged. The Referees Committee of the Uzbekistan Football Association conducted an in-depth analysis of the matches and acknowledged that two referees made serious mistakes. Disciplinary actions were taken against them.

In particular, in the 60th minute of the match between AGMK and Andijon, an AGMK player committed a foul against an opponent without the ball, striking him in the face with an elbow. The main referee, Rustam Lutfullin, consulted with the VAR and made the correct decision in this case.

However, in the 85th minute of the same match, a major refereeing error was recorded. During a challenge for the ball, Lutfullin awarded a penalty kick. According to expert referees, there was no valid reason to award a penalty in that situation. As a result, the Referees Committee decided to suspend Rustam Lutfullin indefinitely from officiating.

A similar controversial incident occurred in the match between Qizilqum and Navbahor. In the 90+5th minute, referee Ahrol Risqullayev awarded a penalty due to the ball striking a Navbahor player’s hand. The VAR review did not overturn the decision, and the penalty was executed in the 90+12th minute. However, according to experts, the player’s arm was close to the body, and therefore no penalty should have been given.

For this reason, the Referees Committee also decided to suspend Ahrol Risqullayev indefinitely for his serious mistake.

These cases once again demonstrate that the Uzbekistan Football Association and the Referees Committee remain committed to the principles of transparency and fairness in refereeing. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
