The Qarshi team “Nasaf” is preparing thoroughly for the second round. The team is expecting matches in the Super League and the Elite ACL.
The head coach of the team, Ruzikul Berdiev, spoke about the preparations for the training camp, the conclusions from the first round, the departure of key players, and the main tasks on the path to the championship.
— How is the preparation process for the second round going? What conclusions were drawn about the first part of the season?
— The preparation is going according to plan. We had planned to play four friendly matches during this camp. The games against "Kokand-1912" and "Khorezm" were the last of this camp. At this stage, we paid special attention to improving the physical condition of the players. For match practice, the friendly matches were important.
As for the first round, our initial goal was to win the Super Cup. We are also fighting for the championship in the Super League. We needed to finish the round well, and we managed to do that.
— Since the team started fighting for the championship, the style of play has changed accordingly. Now the focus is on results rather than attractive actions. What is the connection between these two aspects?
— In the last two years, our goal has been to win the championship. For this, all opportunities had to be used. As I have said before, sometimes we have to give up on a meaningful game for the sake of the result. Last year, in every match, we played a disciplined game for the result and tried to minimize mistakes. This paid off — we became champions. In football, the most important thing is the result. If necessary, we should be ready to defend with even ten players. This season, we are also paying special attention to these aspects. The main goal is to defend the championship.
— Rubin Khebay left the team. It seems that he did not show the expected results in the beginning of the season?
— We expected a lot from him. However, every player, even if the result is good, may not fit into the team in some ways. Khebay was with the team for 6 months. However, out of this time, he spent two months recovering from an injury. His physical condition did not reach the expected level, and he did not meet all of our requirements. Therefore, by mutual agreement, we decided to terminate the contract.
— Akmal Mozgovoy had become the "heart" of "Nasaf" in recent years. Will his departure weaken the team? Who will replace him?
— Akmal had truly become our leader. Last season, he contributed greatly to many victories. In 2024, many of our footballers' contracts expired. At the beginning of the year, since we had set high goals, we offered him a one-year contract. If a better offer comes, the club will receive a certain amount of money, and the player may leave as a free agent. Therefore, we did not oppose it.
Last year, we asked Akmal to help the team. In some contracts with other players, there are similar clauses. So, another transfer may happen. However, we do not want big losses. We have important tasks ahead. Our leaders are very important for us. We have been working for a long time to fill their place. We have considered many candidates. If this work does not give results, we may give a chance to our reserve young players.
— Important matches are coming up in the Super League and Elite ACL. What plans have been developed for the second round?
— We know that the second round will not be easy. Our main goals are the championship in the Super League and a respectable participation in the Elite ACL. If you remember, last year we had to choose between them. In some matches, we did not play with a full squad. This year, we will try not to repeat those mistakes. If we can attract the necessary players, we will be in an even better position.
