Uzbek Wrestlers Amazed Everyone at the Asian Championship

The famous city of Goesan in South Korea hosted the largest and most prestigious continental sports competition in kurash from July 30 to August 4, 2025. This championship was recognized as one of the most important events in the calendar of the International Kurash Association and the Asian Kurash Confederation. This was reported by the Ministry of Sports of the Republic of Uzbekistan in its official statement.

The tournament included competitions among adults, youth, and teenagers. The kurash fights tested not only the athletes’ physical capabilities but also their mental preparation and psychological resilience.

The five-day matches became unforgettable moments for the veterans.

The first day of the championship began with competitions among teenagers and youth. Talented and enthusiastic young wrestlers from nearly 25 countries of our continent showcased their skills on the mat.

The results were full of pleasant surprises for Uzbek athletes. In the overall youth team rankings, our compatriots secured absolute leadership by winning 36 gold, 2 silver, and 1 bronze medals — a total of 39 medals.

The second place went to the Vietnamese athletes with 2 gold and 1 silver medals. India’s national team completed the top three with 1 gold, 12 silver, and 22 bronze medals.

On August 3, the adult competitions began. At this stage, Asia’s strongest and most experienced wrestlers competed in 8 weight categories. This day also brought great results for our team — Uzbek wrestlers earned 4 gold and 2 bronze medals.

The final matches held on August 4 marked a glorious conclusion to the championship. Another 8 champions were determined among the adults, and the Uzbekistan team earned 4 more gold medals.

Thus, our compatriots won a total of 53 medals: 45 gold, 5 silver, and 3 bronze. This result once again demonstrated Uzbekistan’s undeniable dominance in kurash.

Vietnam took second place with 3 gold, 2 silver, and 3 bronze medals. India finished in the top three with 2 gold, 12 silver, and 27 bronze medals — a total of 41.

In addition, athletes from countries such as Tajikistan, Iran, South Korea, Malaysia, Kyrgyzstan, and 14 other nations also returned home with medals from the Asian Championship.

Undoubtedly, these victories filled not only kurash fans but all our citizens with pride. These achievements proved once again that kurash is not only our national sport, but a proud brand representing our nation to the world.
