12 young boxers to fight for final spot at Asian Championship

From July 30 to August 12, a long-awaited tournament for boxing fans is underway — the Asian Championship being held in Bangkok, Thailand. The event features competitions among youth and juniors under 22, as reported by the Uzbekistan Boxing Federation.

Today is of particular importance for the Uzbekistan national team. That’s because 12 talented young athletes from our U-19 team will battle for a spot in the finals. Among them are both male and female fighters. Each aims to honorably represent the country and take a confident step toward championship glory.

Here are the matchups and their opponents:

— In the -48 kg weight class: Maftuna Musurmonova will face Vietnam’s Thao Than Lus.

— At -60 kg: Sevara Mamatova will compete against Kazakhstan’s Alina Kudaigenova.

— At -70 kg: Rayhona Quronboeva will go up against Zarina Asanova of Kyrgyzstan.

— At -75 kg: Maftuna Yangiyeva will step into the ring against Tongtong Gu of China.

— At -80 kg: Rukhshona Parpiyeva will clash with Kuralay Yeginbaykyzy from Kazakhstan.

Among the boys:

— At -60 kg: Abdurahmon Mahmudjonov faces Tortubek Adilet from Kazakhstan.

— At -65 kg: Jahongir Zayniddinov steps into the ring against Yuheng Li of China.

— At -70 kg: Abdulaziz Jo‘raqulov will fight Mohammad Saleh Roozbahani from Iran.

— At -75 kg: Muhammadjon Yaqubboev is set to face Usmon Kaparov of Kyrgyzstan.

— At -80 kg: Norbek Abdullaev aims to defeat Heon-Seung Jeong from South Korea.

— At -85 kg: Samir Sobirov will go head-to-head with another South Korean, Damheon Park.

— At +90 kg: Islam Salikhov will fight against Abbas Garshasbi from Iran.

A notable highlight is that in the +80 kg weight class, Sobirakhon Shahobiddinova has automatically qualified for the final by draw. This reflects her high ranking and great potential.
