The Uzbekistan U-16 youth national team, led by Sergey Chigodaev, played their next match at the prestigious international tournament being held in Indonesia. This time, our boys faced one of the continent’s bright and physically strong teams — Mali U-17.
The match, which took place at the famous “Sumatera Utara” stadium in the city of Medan, kicked off at 13:30. From the very first minutes, the opponent’s pressure was felt, and the African youngsters fully took control of the game. Already in the first half, the Mali players created several dangerous attacks and posed a serious threat to our goal.
At the end of the match, the scoreboard showed 5–1. The only goal for the Uzbekistan team was scored by Habibullo Tojirov, who came on as a substitute with the trust of the coach, in the 84th minute. This strike became a consolation goal for our boys in the game.
Our national team played in the following lineup: 12 – Olim Shomurodov, 2 – Mashkhurbek Abdusoliyev, 4 – Sunnat Ibragimov, 7 – Mirkomil Murodov, 8 – Islombek Ravshanov, 11 – Suhrob Sadrjonov, 15 – Daniil Ponomaryov, 16 – Adis Abdunabiev, 17 – Jahongir O‘ktamboyev, 19 – Ahror Ravshanbekov, 20 – Rustam Aliyev.
On the bench were: Platon Dolsky, Mehroj Sirojiddinov, Muhammadaziz Ruziboyev, Shavkatjon Toshmurodov, Suhrob Abdujalilov, Sog‘inch Marupov, Muhammadjon Mamatov, Khusan Otabekov, Habibullo Tojirov, Shohruh Rahmonaliyev, Kirill Kapran, and Laziz Abdurahimov.
During the tournament, Chigodaev’s players are clearly facing serious competition in terms of physical and technical preparation. Matches against teams like Mali serve as a great school for our young footballers. Even though this result was not what the fans expected, our boys still have several matches ahead and opportunities to prove themselves.
Such tournaments help develop willpower, patience, and readiness for competition on the big stage in our youth. There is great confidence that our team will achieve a better result in the remaining matches of the tournament.
