Only two weeks remain before the summer transfer window closes in Europe. As usual, during this period clubs rush to finalize their deals, making the market even more intense.
Manchester City, where Abdukodir Khusanov plays, has been quite active this summer. Veteran players Scott Carson, Kevin De Bruyne, and Kyle Walker have left the club.
Several other footballers, who were not part of Pep Guardiola’s coaching plans, were loaned out. Vitor Reis joined Girona, Max Alleyne went to Watford, and Jack Grealish was loaned to Everton.
At the beginning of the summer, it was reported that 21-year-old Uzbek defender Abdukodir Khusanov might also be loaned out. However, Guardiola decided to keep him in the squad and give him opportunities this season.
Although the Premier League has already started, the transfer market remains open, and more departures from City are expected. Several English clubs are still negotiating to loan or sign players who impressed under Guardiola.
Guardiola remains faithful to his philosophy of working with a compact squad and ensuring everyone gets playing time. He also commented on Tottenham’s interest in Brazilian forward Savio, who received offers of €40 million and later €70 million.
At a press conference, Guardiola said:
“Until the transfer window closes, we’ll have three or four more press conferences. I don’t know when the next question about Savio will come. If Tottenham or any club wants our players, they should contact the club directly. Personally, I want Savio to stay until the end of the season, maybe even longer.”
The coach emphasized that Savio has great potential, but he still needs to improve his decision-making in difficult situations.
He added that a player’s own desire is the decisive factor in transfers. If a footballer wants to leave, he must agree with the buying club; otherwise, he stays.
Rico Lewis is another name who may leave City before the window shuts. The young defender is expected to compete for the right-back position alongside Matheus Nunes and Abdukodir Khusanov.
Nottingham Forest is pushing hard to sign the 20-year-old, offering him double his current salary. However, their opening bid of €25 million plus €5 million in bonuses was rejected. City values him at €40 million.
Last season, Lewis played 44 matches across all competitions, scoring twice and providing five assists. His contract with City runs until mid-2028.
In conclusion, Manchester City faces serious intrigue as the transfer window nears its end. Guardiola’s trust in Khusanov is encouraging for fans, while Lewis’s future remains uncertain.
