Football fans witnessed an unexpected event in the fourth round of the Russian Cup group stage match between Zenit and Akhmat.
At the end of the match, in stoppage time, Akhmat defender Nodir Gandri committed a foul on the opposing forward Andrey Mostovoy. Referee Rafael Shafeev showed him a straight red card for the incident. As the Tunisian footballer left the field, he gifted his jersey to one of the fans in the stands.
However, after the episode was reviewed via VAR, the decision was changed: the red card was exchanged for yellow. As a result, the astonished fan was forced to return his jersey to Gandriga.
Interestingly, Nodir Gandri scored Akhmat's only goal during the match. However, the controversial situation and the incident surrounding the card became the most memorable moments of the match.
This unusual situation in the Russian Cup sparked widespread discussion among fans.
