Real Madrid head coach Xabi Alonso talked about the situation of young forwards — Endrick and Gonzalo Garcia — who have not yet managed to secure a place in the starting lineup.
According to Alonso, there is currently no need to publicly discuss these players. He said that both are physically ready and can help the team at any time. However, the level of competition in the team is so high that even small mistakes can delay their opportunity to play.
“I’m not thinking about that right now. Such matters shouldn’t be publicly discussed. Both are performing well in training. It’s just that the competition is very strong. Every position has extremely capable players,” Alonso said at the press conference.
Gonzalo Garcia is a product of the “Royal Club” academy. He was officially promoted to the first team in the summer. So far, he has appeared six times in all competitions but has only played a total of 101 minutes, showing that he hasn’t yet received a full opportunity.
Endrick, a young Brazilian forward, is only 19 years old but has already gained considerable experience playing for Palmeiras. However, since Alonso took charge of Real Madrid, he hasn’t yet stepped onto the field. Meanwhile, reports suggest that major European clubs — Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain, and Marseille — are showing interest in him.
It is believed that Alonso is taking a cautious approach with young players, integrating them gradually into the system and preparing them mentally and tactically in a highly competitive environment. Because at Real, every position is contested by at least two experienced players.
For these two young strikers, this period is one of testing, patience, and growth. They are trusted, but proving that trust will take time.
Thus, internal competition at Real remains a proving ground not only for young talents but for all players. According to Alonso, to earn a place on the pitch, one needs not only talent but also patience and consistent hard work.
