As you know, on December 5, the draw ceremony for a historic event - the World Cup - will take place in Washington. There are various opinions about where the Uzbekistan national team, which qualified for the World Cup for the first time, will take its place. Alisher Nikimbayev, a well-known football expert, shared his views on this topic.
He noted that FIFA has not yet officially approved the final mechanism for drawing lots. The international organization is considering several options, and there is no definitive decision yet. Nikimbayev, based on his conversation with the FIFA working group, commented on two possible scenarios.
The first option is to maintain the 2022 procedure. In this case, the teams that won the playoffs will be automatically placed in Pot 4. The Uzbekistan national team will be in the middle of the 3rd basket. That is, our opponents may be a little stronger, but this will not seriously affect our team's chances.
The second option is distribution based on the highest ranking in the playoffs. If the decision is approved in this manner, the remaining teams will be placed in the same order as the team with the highest rating among the teams that made it to the playoffs. In this scenario, Uzbekistan will be at the head of Pot 4.
According to the expert, FIFA itself has not yet given a clear answer:
"The drawing mechanism is being developed, several options are still under discussion," FIFA said.
Most importantly, the official procedure will be announced soon, and then it will become clear exactly where our national team will take its place. Every detail is important for our team, which is taking its first step into the World Cup, and there is no doubt that the day of the draw will evoke great passion for the fans.
