Watzke: Sacking Tuchel Was a Mistake

The CEO of Borussia Dortmund, Hans-Joachim Watzke, has admitted that the decision to dismiss Thomas Tuchel in 2017 was a mistake. This was reported by Sport Bild.

Tuchel had won the DFB-Pokal (German Cup) with Borussia Dortmund. However, following the bomb attacks near the team's bus, his relationship with the club deteriorated, eventually leading to his departure.

The disagreements with Watzke were linked to this incident and transfer matters. "Looking back, I think that decision would not have been made if those attacks hadn’t happened.

Today, I wouldn’t dismiss Tuchel. But at that time, we were very angry at each other," Watzke said.
