Former player of the Russian national football team and current expert Vladimir Granat has suggested organizing a friendly match between the Russian team and Uzbekistan, which will participate in the 2026 FIFA World Cup. "A match with Uzbekistan would be very interesting.
A World Cup participant. Overall, the stronger the opponent and the higher their FIFA ranking, the more fascinating the games are," Granat was quoted as saying by Metaratings.ru.
As a reminder, the Russian national team has been suspended from international competitions since February 2022. The team, led by Valery Karpin, played its last friendly match in Sochi against Chile, where the Russian players suffered a 0-2 defeat.
