In the 13th round of the Turkish Super League, "Istanbul Bashakshehir," which Uzbek fans are watching with great interest, will host a strong opponent - "Trabzonspor." This stage of the tournament is very important for both teams, especially for the Istanbul team, this match is one of the opportunities to get out of the difficult situation of the season.
Despite having a strong squad, an experienced coach, and playing at home, Bashakshehir is failing to live up to expectations at the start of the season. The team has now dropped to the bottom of the table - 13th place is completely incompatible with the club's ambitions. Trabzonspor, in turn, are tracking their championship positions with consistent play and are currently in third place.
Hope started with Shaxin, but the result is still low
Bashakshehir started the season very unsuccessfully. A series of injuries on the team, lack of attacking contact, and problems in establishing dominance over opponents exacerbated the situation. After an unsuccessful series, the club appointed Nuri Shakhin as head coach. Although his arrival raised high hopes for the fans, the results have not yet stabilized.
The Istanbul side made a good impression in several matches: a 4-0 victory against Antalyaspor and a 1-0 victory against Kojaelispor strengthened their hopes. However, a 1-2 defeat to the lower-ranked "Genchlerbirligi" in the next round further strained the situation.
Shomurodov became the main pillar of the team
The most brilliant player of "Bashakshehir" this season is Eldor Shomurodov from Uzbekistan. He scored 8 goals in 12 matches, becoming the only "working" force in his team. However, the team lacks other scorers who can provide him with sufficient support. Only Ivan Brnich and Nunu Costa are able to assist him with two goals each.
Abbosbek Fayzullayev is on the verge of recovery. He was sidelined for a month and a half and couldn't make it to the national team. But now he's close to returning to the team. Yusuf Sari's injury and Opery's health problems further exacerbated the problems on the attack and wings.
Despite this, Bashakshehir has been scoring in almost every home game. Only against "Eyyupspor" was there no goal.
Trabzonspor forgets the defeat - the series has reached seven games
The Black Sea team hasn't tasted defeat in their last seven matches. Before halftime, they drew with Gaziantep BB, then played two matches with four goals and scored two wins. The away 0-0 draw against Galatasaray and the 1-1 draw against Alanyaspor proved the team's stable position.
The squad is also almost complete: there are no major losses except for Stefan Savic. He is being successfully replaced by nominal midfielder Okay Yokushlu. Anthony Nwakayeme hasn't played for a long time and has been removed from the roster.
The advantage in head-to-head matches is on the side of "Trabzonspor"
In all of the last four matches, the Trabzon side beat Bashakshehir without conceding a goal. Trabzonspor has 14 wins and 10 wins in total history.
Looking at the current situation and form, the visitors have a good chance to continue the series.
Two forwards - two goals, one field
Two super-forwards are leading the scoring race:
- Eldor Shomurodov (Bashakshehir) - 8 goals (1 penalty)
- Paul Onuachu (Trabzonspor) - 8 goals (2 penalties)
The clash between them is expected to be a real show.
