Today, the match of the 5th round of the AFC Elite Champions League (ECL) took place, where the Qarshi club "Nasaf" hosted the Iranian team "Tractor" on their home field and suffered a 0:1 defeat. The head coach of the "Nasaf" club, Ruzikul Berdiev, participated in the traditional post-match press conference and spoke openly about the difficult situation of the team.
"Lack of lightness in attack"
The coach, expressing his opinion about the game, noted that the defensive play was unsuccessful, and this benefited the opponent. "Our work in attack also didn't go well. We knew 'Tractor' would defend in an organized way, and that's what happened. I know very well what is happening in our team. To be honest, we are going through very difficult days, and right now we cannot strengthen our game more than this," — Berdiev said with regret. He specifically noted that there was a lack of some lightness in attack.
The coach explained the reasons for the absence of the three requested players: Zafarmurod Abdirahmatov missed the game due to yellow cards; the injured Murod Rahmatov, who was viewed as a replacement for the departed Akmal Mozgovoy, became a major loss; and Oybek Bozorov was not included in the squad due to an increase in injuries lately.
"The responsibility is primarily mine"
Answering the question about conceding 14 goals in 5 matches, Berdiev said: "I think we made many mistakes. There is not a single game that we played without mistakes. I do not want to blame the players for the defeat, the first person responsible is primarily myself," — taking full responsibility upon himself.
Emphasizing that "Nasaf" always participates with the highest goals, he explained the current situation: "Now anything other than the championship has become a bad result for 'Nasaf'... Unfortunately, our participation in the Elite ECL was not good. We should have even saved the championship in the Super League, but we let that slip too." He admitted that because the club's level has risen, their current situation appears bad.
