
The talented grandmaster from Uzbekistan, Javokhir Sindarov, achieved victory over China's Wei Yi in the FIDE World Cup final, securing his eternal place in chess history! He achieved this success at only 19 years old, setting a record as the tournament's youngest champion. After two days of draws (0.5-0.5), the winner was determined on November 26 in additional tie-break matches, and our compatriot secured the final victory in the second game.
Ticket to the Candidates Tournament and Historical Achievement
With this victory, Sindarov became the second Uzbekistani chess player to win the prestigious competition. This largest knockout-system competition is held under the auspices of the International Chess Federation (FIDE).
Most importantly, by reaching the final, Sindarov guaranteed a ticket to the 2026 Candidates Tournament (the basis for the fight for the World Chess Crown). The prize fund of this tournament is 2 million dollars, and the winner receives 120 thousand dollars.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, who was congratulating the participants of the Presidential Olympiad taking place in our country these days, personally announced this good news from the podium:
"Just now, good news arrived. Our 19-year-old chess player, Javokhir Sindarov, won the final of the World Chess Championship taking place in India and became the World Champion," – the Head of State said, congratulating with great pleasure all the athletes, coaches, and spectators in the stadium with this joyful news.
After this news was heard throughout the stadium, the event announcer, Jahongir Poziljonov, shouted in a ringing voice through the microphone: "Uzbekistan! Uzbekistan! Uzbekistan!", expressing the pride of the entire nation.
