In recent years, the Turkish Super League has become an attractive destination for well-known footballers who have made their mark in European arenas. Almost all 18 teams participating in the championship have famous stars in their ranks. This situation increases the league's competitiveness and further fuels fan interest.
Uzbek forward Eldor Shomurodov joined the ranks of such stars ahead of the new season. Having played in the Italian league for almost five years, the experienced footballer is now recognized as the main figure, leader, and top scorer of the Istanbul Bashakshehir team. The fact that our 30-year-old forward again took the lead in the top scorer race at the Turkish championship demonstrates his high form.
According to reports, Bashakshehir paid the Italian club 3 million euros to loan Shomurodov from Roma for one season. Interestingly, this amount is higher than the full transfer value of many players in the team. The team consists of foreign players from 13 countries, and two players from Uzbekistan are participating.
Shomurodov, along with Abbosbek Fayzullayev, is the main force of the attacking line not only at the club but also at the Uzbekistan national team. After the 16th round, Bashakshehir scored a total of 22 goals, 11 of which were scored by Eldor. That is, half of the team's goals are associated with his name.
Another important aspect is that among the 29 players included in the team's roster, Shomurodov is the only player to have played in all 16 matches since the beginning of the championship. He scored his first goal in the Turkish championship against Beşiktaş, and his first and so far only brace was against Antalyaspor.
Eldor's goals secured four wins and one draw for Bashakshehir, earning 13 of their total 20 points. He managed to score for ten of the 16 teams he faced in the Super League. His current transfer value is estimated at €5 million, making him one of the most expensive players on the team.
Looking at the statistics, Shomurodov played 1407 minutes in the Super League and scored 11 goals. This means he is an effective striker, scoring an average of one goal every 128 minutes. Bashakshehir is the eighth club in his career.
In total, Eldor Shomurodov played 366 matches in all tournaments at the club level, scoring 75 goals and providing 41 assists. At the same time, he received 21 yellow cards and one red card during his career. Most importantly, Eldor is known as the most prolific goalscorer in the history of the Uzbekistan national team. He has scored 43 goals in 88 international matches, setting a new record with each goal.
In short, in the Turkish Super League, Eldor Shomurodov has become one of the brightest figures not only of his club, but also of the entire championship. The fans expect even more goals and great achievements from him.
