Mainz beat their rival and moved off the bottom of the table

After starting to collect points in recent rounds, Mainz hosted their direct rival Heidenheim on Tuesday. The 2–1 win extended Mainz’s unbeaten run to four matches and finally lifted them off the very bottom of the standings. euro-football.ru reports reports .
In the 30th minute, Jae-Sung Lee found Silvan Widmer in the box, and the defender finished beautifully on the volley to make it 1–0. Early in the second half, Nadim Amiri struck first time to make it 2–0. Soon after, Amiri could have added an assist as well: he put Armindo Sieb through in a great position, but the goalkeeper barely kept the shot out.
Around the 60th minute, the suspense returned: on a counterattack, Arijon Ibrahimovic failed to beat the goalkeeper, and Stefan Schimmer calmly slotted the rebound into the net — 2–1. After that, Mainz held on and secured three crucial points.
After the result, Heidenheim dropped to the bottom of the table. Mainz edged past their rivals on tiebreakers, while St. Pauli, on 12 points, sit above them on goal difference.
