The second round of the Turkish Championship kicked off with a match between Istanbul Bashakshehir and Fatih Karagyumryuk. The hosts secured a 2-1 victory thanks to goals from Eldor Shomurodov and Umar Ali Shakhiner, securing the crucial three points.
Istanbul Bashakshehir, seriously struggling for a European cup spot, reached 26 points after 18 rounds, moving closer to the top five in the league table. For the team during this part of the season, every point is worth gold - the competition is fierce, and the matches are unforgivably fierce.
Eldor Shomurodov once again proved his scoring potential. He currently leads the top scorer race in the Super League, reaching 13 goals. His two-goal lead over his closest rival, Aol Onuachu, demonstrates his form this season.
Following the match, Bashakshehir head coach Nuri Shahin commented on the game and highlighted the key points in the team's victory. According to him, this result once again showed that there is no easy game in the league.
The coach said that the team played very well in the first half, even that it could be one of the best halves he's had since his arrival. However, his failure to score the second goal at the time complicated the game in the following minutes.
In the second half, Bashakshehir couldn't capitalize on an opportunity to increase the score. "Fatih Karagyumryuk," however, took a risk as a team with little to lose, and this method proved effective, resulting in a 1-1 draw. At that moment, as Nuri Shahin noted, the team's reaction pleased the coach: they played patiently, created chances, and ultimately delivered the decisive blow.
The winning goal was scored by Omar Ali Shakhiner. The coach assessed this goal as "fantastic" and emphasized that the value of such victories is very high. He said that victories in four of the last five matches and three consecutive wins will accelerate the team's development process and strengthen confidence in the game.
Nuri Shahin also spoke about Umar Ali Shahiner. In his opinion, this player is very important for the club, a highly professional, and a versatile player who has been helping the team in several positions. Today, he "adorned" his good performance in recent weeks with a goal.
Regarding Shomurodov, the coach pointed out an interesting point: Eldor becoming a top scorer is certainly pleasant, but not the decisive goal. The main thing is that the team will achieve its goals by the end of the season, and Eldor's contribution to this is enormous.
The coach especially praised Shomurodov's actions without the ball: he emphasized that work on the field, pressing, positioning, and contribution to the team's game are important aspects that cannot be measured "only by goals." Nuri Shahin called Eldor a person with a strong character, a real star, and added that it is very easy to work with him.
Istanbul Bashakshehir will now play their next match in the Turkish championship on January 25th. On the same day, Shomurodov's team will travel to "Kayserispor." This match is expensive for both the hosts and the visitors, but Bashakshehir's current mood and streak await fans with even greater results.
