FA Cup: Manchester City to face Salford City

Manchester City’s next opponent in the FA Cup has been confirmed. The tie between Salford City and Swindon Town for a place in the fourth round had been postponed for a while due to bad weather.

The match was originally scheduled for 10 January. However, with the pitch frozen, the game was delayed by ten days. On Tuesday night, while much of Europe was watching the Champions League, the lower-league sides finally cleared their “fixture backlog.”

The match was played at Salford City’s ground, and the hosts won 3–2. It unfolded in a very entertaining way: Swindon Town managed to overturn a two-goal deficit and draw level. But in the end, another lapse in concentration in front of their own goal proved costly, as they conceded the decisive strike.

As a result, Salford City booked their place in the next round. Now this team will travel to face Manchester City in the FA Cup in mid-February.

In short, the frozen pitch stopped the match, but not the intrigue: Salford now face the real test — an away trip to the Citizens.
