Lauren Hemp rejects Barcelona to triumph with Manchester City

Two years ago, with Lauren Hemp's Manchester City contract nearing its end, her departure seemed imminent. Barcelona were seriously interested in the England star, and Manchester City were running out of time to retain the player who arrived at 17 and became one of Europe's best wingers. However, Hemp ultimately decided to stay, and today she emphasizes her happiness with that decision as a Women's Super League champion. This is reported by Goal.com reports .

Hemp has been playing for Manchester City since 2018. Although she won the FA Cup and League Cup with the team, she had suffered several defeats in title races and was forced to exit the Champions League early. "When I was thinking about signing a new contract, I knew I wanted to win with this club. Because trophies had been scarce recently, the thought 'I need to win and lift trophies' was always on my mind," the player recalls.

Hemp continued to believe in her team: "I believed in the club, which is why I stayed. I knew we could compete and win trophies in the near future." Earlier this month, that dream came true as Manchester City secured their first Super League title since 2016. "I am proud of my decision. I am very happy that I stayed and worked hard for the title just like everyone else," she added.

The 25-year-old considers this success just the "beginning." On Sunday, she and her teammates will take the field against Brighton to win the FA Cup after a six-year hiatus. Hemp has extensive experience in finals at Wembley Stadium and believes she is starting a new era of victories for Manchester City.
