José Mourinho responded sharply to the insult of "traitor"...

Benfica head coach Jose Mourinho has openly spoken about an altercation on the sidelines with Porto's assistant coach, Lucho Gonzalez. Although the match ended in a 2-2 draw, the main discussion after the game revolved around this conflict: in the final minutes of the clash, both Mourinho and Gonzalez received red cards and were sent off.
According to Mourinho, the most annoying thing about him in this argument was the label of "traitor" issued by a representative of the opponent's headquarters. The Lisbon team's coach, Gonzalez, emphasized that he had called him a "traitor 50 times," raising the question: who did he betray and in what?
Mourinho explained his position as follows: he served Porto wholeheartedly, and then, as his profession dictated, worked for Chelsea, Inter Milan, Real Madrid, and other teams. In his opinion, the coach's transfer from club to club is not a betrayal, but a professional activity. When he works for any team, he fully dedicates himself to the work of this club, which is normal.
At this point, Mourinho tested the insult directed at him on the example of Gonzalez himself: "Did he betray Porto when he moved to Marseille?" That is, the coach's logic is simple: if a player or coach moves to another club, it doesn't automatically mean "traitor."
Mourinho also sharply contrasted fan insults with colleague insults. He emphasized that what fans say with emotion is part of football: fans give in to emotions, which is natural. But if a professional, especially a colleague in a football environment, treats you this way, it is already disrespectful to the profession.
He didn't hide the fact that he considered such a statement an "attack on professionalism," which is why he didn't like it. Mourinho, making his point even sharper, said: whether he's at Benfica or tomorrow at another club - "Estrel," "Moreyrense," or "Leiria," he could still give it his all. So, it's not about which club you're in, it's about dedication to the profession and hard work.
In short, Mourinho perceived the argument not as a quarrel, but as a blow to his reputation and professional name. Now there's one big question: will this situation continue in the next matches, or will the parties cool down and football return to the field?
