"Real Madrid" has officially decided to end its pursuit of German defender Nico Schlotterbeck. The Spanish giant had been monitoring the player for a long time but recently withdrew from the transfer race.
According to reports from Sky Sport, "Borussia Dortmund" has offered the 26-year-old center-back a highly lucrative new contract. The player is expected to sign a long-term agreement with the club in the near future. "Real Madrid" management was informed of this decision and subsequently dropped their interest.
As a result, the Madrid club will now have to focus on other defensive candidates to strengthen their squad.
Nico Schlotterbeck had also attracted significant interest from other European heavyweights, including "Bayern Munich" and "Liverpool". According to Transfermarkt, the market value of the German defender is currently estimated at 55 million euros, and his existing contract runs until 2027.
