Caruana comments on 'golden generation' of Uzbek chess school

Fabiano Caruana, one of the world's leading grandmasters, shared his thoughts on the Uzbek chess school and its "golden generation," noting that young talents in the country are growing rapidly.
He mentioned that around 2020–2021, Rustam Kasimjanov began speaking about chess players who were very young at the time but possessed immense potential. Caruana even viewed Nodirbek Yakubboev as one of the most talented and promising players. He also noted that it is very difficult to make accurate predictions about such young and strong chess players.
Recalling his first game against Nodirbek Abdusattorov at the 2021 World Rapid Championship, he noted that Nodirbek ended that tournament with a victory. At the same time, he said he heard about Javohir Sindarov in 2021, but only faced him at the 2023 Grand Swiss tournament.
Caruana stated that although Sindarov's rating was not very high at the time, he quickly sensed his strong potential. In his opinion, Javohir played with a somewhat unusual and risky style in the openings, which signaled that he would soon become a serious opponent.
Caruana specifically noted that Nodirbek Abdusattorov is already a world-renowned chess player. He said that his victory at the Olympiad was not an unexpected surprise, but rather a predicted result.
However, Caruana believes that Javohir Sindarov's +6 result in the Candidates Tournament was a true sensation and a great discovery. He described this result as a brilliant surprise for the entire chess world.
