Manchester City secures new talent: Deturbe transfer agreed

Manchester City has taken its first major step ahead of the summer transfer window. The Mancunians reached an agreement with young forward Mathis Deturbe, who plays for French club Troyes. The "Citizens" agreed to spend around 15 million euros on this transfer.
The club's sporting director Hugo Viana is consistently continuing his policy of squad renewal. His main strategy is to bring young and promising players into the team to serve as the foundation for the future.
The 18-year-old Mathis Deturbe managed to prove himself in Ligue 2 matches this season — with eight goal contributions (goals and assists) he brought benefit to his team. This sparked great interest in his potential.
For reference: Hugo Viana took up the position of sporting director in July 2025, replacing Txiki Begiristain, and launched a wide-ranging rebuild at the team. During his tenure the transfer of Gianluigi Donnarumma was completed, and in January 2026 Marc Guehi and Antoine Semenyo also joined the team.
At the same time, parting with some experienced players is planned in the squad reshaping. In particular, Bernardo Silva and John Stones may leave the club in the summer. This opens doors of opportunity for the new generation.
According to sources, several more major transfers are expected during the summer. In particular, strengthening the right-back and midfield lines is planned, with Elliot Anderson among the candidates.
In short, Manchester City is building the future right now. The new project, relying on young talents, is aimed at making the club even stronger and more stable.
