World Taekwondo has released its updated world rankings for May. According to the list, a number of athletes from the Uzbekistan national team have secured spots in the top 50, once again demonstrating their strong performance on the international stage.
In the men's categories, Najmiddin Qosimxojiyev continues to solidify his lead in the 74 kg weight class, holding the No. 1 spot in the world rankings with 199.40 points. Additionally, Jahongir Xudoyberdiyev ranks 6th in the 54 kg category, while Jasurbek Jaysunov also holds the 6th position in the 80 kg division. In the 87 kg weight class, Shuhrat Salayev is ranked 7th, and Marat Mavlonov is also listed in 7th place in the heavyweight division.
Several other Uzbek athletes are also among the top performers in their respective weight classes. Notably, Nazarali Nazarov (63 kg) is ranked 18th, and Diyorbek Toʻxliboyev (68 kg) holds the 22nd position. Furthermore, the fact that several of our representatives have secured spots in the 58 kg weight class shows that the competition is high.
Among the women, one of the highest results was recorded in the +73 kg category. Svetlana Osipova maintains her position among the elite, holding 2nd place in the world rankings with 196.60 points. Ozoda Sobirjonova is ranked 7th in the 67 kg category, while Madina Mirabzalova is listed 11th in the 57 kg division.
At the same time, the fact that athletes such as Laylo Zayniddinova (53 kg), Sevinch Hayitova (62 kg), and others have secured spots in the top 50 demonstrates the steady growth of our national team's deep roster.
According to the Uzbekistan Taekwondo WT Association, these results are the outcome of our athletes' high competitiveness on the international stage and their consistent hard work.
In short, the updated rankings demonstrate that Uzbek taekwondo athletes are establishing a firm foothold in the global arena and are striving for even greater achievements in the future.
