Colombia announces star-studded squad for the World Cup

Preparations for the 2026 World Cup are in full swing. Colombia, drawn into the same group as the Uzbekistan national team, has officially announced its expanded squad for the tournament. The list includes experienced leaders, top players from European and South American clubs, and young talents.

Colombia's expanded squad features renowned players such as James Rodríguez, Luis Díaz, Luis Suárez, Juan Cuadrado, Yerry Mina, Jorge Carrascal, Richard Ríos, and Davinson Sánchez. This demonstrates that the team is preparing for the World Cup with serious ambitions.

The goalkeeping department includes Aldair Quintana, Álvaro Angulo, Álvaro Montero, Camilo Vargas, and David Ospina. David Ospina, in particular, could be a key figure for Colombia as a goalkeeper with vast international experience.

In defense, the squad features players like Andrés Mosquera, Andrés Román, Cristian Borja, Daniel Muñoz, Deiver Machado, Edier Ocampo, Johan Mojica, Juan David Cabal, Juan Guillermo Cuadrado, Santiago Arias, Yerry Mina, and Yerson Mosquera. This line combines speed, physical strength, and experience.

The midfield is expected to be one of Colombia's most interesting areas. Players like James Rodríguez, Jefferson Lerma, Jorge Carrascal, Richard Ríos, Wilmar Barrios, and Yaser Asprilla will play a major role in the team's tempo, ball control, and transition to attack. James's experience and creativity remain a vital weapon for Colombia.

The attacking line is filled with names that will cause serious headaches for opposing defenders. Luis Díaz, Luis Suárez, Jhon Durán, Jhon Córdoba, Jhon Arias, Rafael Santos Borré, Sebastián Villa, and other forwards provide Colombia with great depth. Luis Díaz's speed, technical skill, and activity in duels are particularly noteworthy.

Colombia's expanded squad is as follows:

As a reminder, the Colombia national team will face Uzbekistan, Portugal, and DR Congo in the 2026 World Cup group stage. This group will certainly be of special interest to Uzbekistan fans, as our national team will test itself against such strong opponents in the World Cup for the first time in its history.

The 2026 World Cup will be held in three countries simultaneously—the USA, Canada, and Mexico—for the first time in history. It will also be the first tournament to feature 48 teams.

In short, the Colombian squad looks very formidable in terms of names. It will not be an easy opponent for Uzbekistan, but such matches reveal the team's true level. At the World Cup, every minute, every ball, and every decision will be worth its weight in gold.
