Perplexity Labs Wi-Fi tracking project exposed as simulation
A Reddit user named Educational_Ice151 claimed to have built a system that tracks people through walls using a $25 (~320,000 UZS) Wi-Fi router, reports Rozetked. The project, aided by Perplexity Labs AI, was titled DensePose-from-WiFi.

According to the author, the system analyzes Wi-Fi signal reflections (CSI) via a neural network to display real-time human poses and stream them via RTMP to a dashboard. The setup was allegedly built in under an hour using code generated by Perplexity AI based on a research paper.

However, Reddit users debunked the project, finding that the code relies on simulated data rather than real Wi-Fi signals. The demo showed movement even in empty rooms, and the "hardware connect" button was purely cosmetic.

Standard Wi-Fi routers don't provide the necessary signal data for such tracking. Implementing a real system would require advanced, specialized hardware.
