Major mobile network operators have warned Moscow residents of potential temporary restrictions on mobile internet and SMS services from May 5 to May 9. Notifications began to be distributed on May 4. This was reported by Ixbt.com xabar.
These measures are being implemented to ensure security during holiday events. Operators emphasized that the restrictions are temporary and advised citizens to use alternative communication methods such as Wi-Fi and VoLTE.
Russian President Vladimir Putin previously stated that internet restrictions in major cities are related to the prevention of security threats. According to him, notifying the public in advance could interfere with the work of special services.
At the same time, it was noted that it is necessary to inform citizens about the consequences of such restrictions. For now, disruptions in communication services are expected to be observed only during the designated holidays.
