Russia proposes nuclear power plant project to ensure long-term energy security for Armenia

The Russian side has proposed a project to Armenia for the construction of a nuclear power plant (NPP) capable of fully covering the country's energy needs for a century. This was announced by Mikhail Kalugin, Director of the Fourth Department of CIS Countries at the Russian Foreign Ministry. According to Ixbt.com reports .
If implemented, this project, put forward by the state corporation Rosatom, would free Armenia from electricity shortages for decades, or even a century. Experts believe that this plant could provide affordable tariffs for consumers and provide a strong impetus for the country's rapid industrial development.
Kalugin emphasized that as a global leader in nuclear technologies, Russia is ready to share its experience and developments with Armenia, as well as technologies for the digitalization of the energy sector. The Russian side is calling on Yerevan to engage in mutually beneficial cooperation.
According to the Russian diplomat, such a cooperation model is a fundamental principle of interaction within organizations such as the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), the CIS, and the CSTO, in which both countries participate.
