In the first quarter of 2026, China's exports of fiber optic cables and optical modules (transceivers) grew significantly. Exports of optical modules, which convert electrical signals into light pulses, are also growing steadily. In the first three months of this year, exports of these products increased by 30 percent compared to the same period last year. In particular, the 1.6T optical module produced in Wuhan has become the most sought-after product on the international market.
Today, Chinese companies control over 70 percent of the global optical module market and 60 percent of the optical fiber market. Chinese manufacturers are not only maintaining their market share but are also accelerating the global deployment of their technologies.
