Shawkat Mirziyoyev and Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif held talks in a narrow circle and with the participation of official delegations. This was reported by the press service of the President of Uzbekistan.

All areas of further expansion and strengthening of Uzbek-Pakistani strategic partnership were considered.

At the beginning of the conversation, Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif expressed gratitude to Shavkat Mirziyoyev for the warm welcome.

The heads of state noted with great satisfaction that multifaceted cooperation has been rapidly developing in recent years.

Active political dialogues, fruitful inter-parliamentary and inter-agency exchanges continue.

In 2024, the volume of trade turnover exceeded $ 400 million, the number of joint ventures reached 130. Trading houses were opened in Karachi and Tashkent. Direct flights between Tashkent and Lahore were restored.

The meeting of the intergovernmental commission, business forums, and the National Industrial Exhibition of Uzbekistan were successfully held.

The negotiations paid special attention to the issues of expanding trade and economic cooperation.

The importance of taking mutually agreed measures to increase the volume of trade turnover to $ 2 billion based on the adopted "road map" was emphasized.

Within the framework of the Agreement on Preferential Trade, expanding the list of goods, mutual simplification of phytosanitary and quarantine requirements, customs procedures, approximation of standards, integration of electronic trading platforms, ensuring the possibility of participating in procurement, improving interbank settlement mechanisms, and others were identified as priority tasks.


The plans of leading companies for the implementation of cooperation projects in pharmaceuticals, electrical engineering, agricultural machinery, geology and mineral resources, textile, leather industry and other sectors were considered.

In order to stimulate business and cultural ties between the regions, the head of our state proposed holding a forum of the regions of the two countries in Uzbekistan.

It was noted that over the past few years, the volume of cargo transportation through the multimodal corridor "Uzbekistan - Afghanistan - Pakistan" has increased 5 times. In order to further increase the volume of cargo turnover, it was agreed to establish a joint transport and logistics company.

It was noted that it is important to coordinate joint efforts in order to practically advance the project for the construction of the Trans-Afghan railway.

It was agreed to hold the next meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission in Lahore in July 2025.

The parties noted the importance of further expanding cultural, humanitarian and tourism exchanges. In this regard, it was agreed to hold mutual Cultural Weeks and presentations of tourism programs.

Views were also exchanged on pressing issues of international and regional importance. The importance of continuing mutual support within the framework of the United Nations, the Non-Aligned Movement, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the SCO and other multilateral structures was noted.

The President of Uzbekistan and the Prime Minister of Pakistan emphasized the need to join efforts in combating terrorism, radicalism, Islamophobia and other modern threats to security.

It was agreed to establish a High-Level Strategic Partnership Council in order to develop new areas of comprehensive cooperation and to hold its first meeting next year.

As a result of the high-level negotiations, a decision was made to develop and approve a joint "road map" for the timely implementation of the agreements reached and the signed agreements.

At the end of the negotiations, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Prime Minister of Pakistan Shahbaz Sharif signed a Joint Declaration aimed at further developing and strengthening multifaceted Uzbek-Pakistani cooperation and a protocol on the establishment of a bilateral High-Level Strategic Partnership Council.

The following documents signed during the visit were exchanged in the presence of the leaders of the two countries:

- Agreement on cooperation in the field of science, technology and innovation;
- Agreement on visa-free travel for holders of diplomatic passports;
- Agreement on cooperation between the Ministries of Internal Affairs;
- Agreement on cooperation in the field of professional education;
- Agreement on cooperation in the field of youth policy;
- Agreement on cooperation between national news agencies;
- Agreements and agreements on cooperation between diplomatic academies, the cities of Tashkent and Lahore, and other documents.
