Andijan man kept wolves on a gas station property

Andijan man kept wolves on a gas station property
In Andijan, a local resident was found keeping two Central Asian wolves on the premises of a gas station, reports UPL.uz, citing the regional Department of Ecology. The discovery was made during a routine inspection carried out jointly with the regional prosecutor’s office.

During the check, it was revealed that the man, whose identity is not disclosed, housed the wild predators in unsuitable conditions. The wolves were held directly on the gas station’s territory, raising concerns among officials.

On May 23, 2025, the owner, realizing the gravity of the situation, voluntarily handed over the wolves to a zoo in Andijan — Usmonobod Fayzi LLC. Veterinarians examined the animals and found them healthy and free of any abuse or disease.

The zoo has since created suitable living conditions for the wolves, ensuring they receive proper nutrition, care, and monitoring. Environmental officials also stated that they will monitor the wolves’ adaptation to prevent stress.

The Central Asian wolf, a subspecies of the gray wolf, is smaller in size and has lighter fur, which helps it adapt to the region’s hot climate. These animals are known for their resilience and ability to survive in harsh environments.
