The heat returns: The end of June is full of heat
The last week of June is expected to be a challenging period for the population of Uzbekistan. Although typical summer heat is currently prevailing across the country, experts warn of even hotter weather in the coming days and the risk of floods in some regions. Based on the weather forecast and the analysis of climatologist Erkin Abdulakhatov, the Kun.uz website has provided detailed information about expected meteorological phenomena over the next 10 days.

The past 10 days: sudden hail and intense heat
In mid-June, anomalous weather was observed in various parts of the republic. On June 10, in the Khorezm region, especially in the Kushkupir district, heavy hail fell. This hail caused significant damage to agriculture — crop fields, fruit trees, and gardens were severely affected. According to local residents, this natural disaster occurs not every year but once in a hundred years. The hail covered the land like white snow, instantly turning the spring landscape into a winter reality. Cotton and orchard farmers suffered major losses. Climatologists classified this event as a “cataclysm” — an unexpected and devastating occurrence.

Artificial intervention in the atmosphere prevented disaster
There is good news too. In three districts of Namangan region, special emergency units that influence hydrometeorological processes detected the threat of hail and took timely action. Through artificial interference in the atmosphere, the heavy hail was prevented. As a result, agricultural lands were saved from major damage. In short, this time the technological approach proved effective.

The connection between floods, locusts, and temperature
On June 12, severe flooding occurred in the Zomin and Bakhmal districts of the Jizzakh region. Although such events are common in mountainous areas, the damage this time was quite significant. In some parts of Navoi, Bukhara, and Jizzakh regions, small locust swarms were also reported. This is considered a problem closely related to hot weather and drought.

Heat wave: even cotton and flowers can't withstand it
From June 15 to 18, temperatures above +40°C were recorded throughout Uzbekistan. On June 18, Termiz reached +44.1°C, while in desert areas of Navoi and Bukhara the heat exceeded +43°C. This heat wave was a serious test for cotton seedlings — in some cotton fields, buds and flowers fell off. This may seriously impact crop yields.

Cooler weekend, but don’t celebrate yet
According to climatologist Abdulakhatov's forecast, the weekend will be relatively cooler, but only temporarily. The heat wave is expected to return from Monday. The final days of June may be mild, but a strong heat wave is likely to hit Uzbekistan again in early July. The risk of floods remains in Tashkent and valley regions. There is a high chance of heavy rain and wind during the weekend, which may lead to river overflows, landslides, and flash floods.

Need to be prepared for extreme weather changes
According to Uzbekistan's meteorological experts, due to global climate changes, extreme weather conditions are becoming the new normal. Sudden temperature shifts, floods and rain appearing in a single day, alternating heat and drought — all of these require well-planned monitoring and quick response measures.

Conclusion: battling climate is more than just about the weather
This summer is not an ordinary one. Heat, hail, floods, locusts — all these are putting pressure on Uzbekistan’s agriculture and overall quality of life. A sharp rise in temperatures threatens not just harvests, but also health. Therefore, citizens, farmers, and government bodies must remain vigilant. Most importantly, timely informing every individual about climate threats and taking preventive actions is essential.
