A direct air route has officially been launched between Uzbekistan’s capital Tashkent and the strategically important city of South Korea — Busan. Now, our compatriots and travelers from Busan will no longer have to endure a long and tiring journey via Seoul. This was reported by the "Dunyo" news agency under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan.
The first flight — a historic event!
A modern and spacious A-330 aircraft of “Qanot Sharq” airline landed for the first time at Busan International Airport. According to tradition, the plane was greeted with a ceremonial water salute — a symbolic welcome for important flights in global aviation.
A special opening ceremony was held at Busan Airport before the inaugural flight. The event was attended by officials of both countries, representatives of the tourism sector, journalists, and passengers of the first flight. They assessed this connection as a crucial step that brings new life to the economic, cultural, and tourism relations between the two countries.
Past travel difficulties are now history
Previously, travelers and entrepreneurs from Busan had to fly to Seoul first, and then travel another four hours by land to reach Busan. This required both time and additional expenses. Now, a direct flight from Tashkent to Busan is available, offering convenience and efficiency for citizens of both nations.
Regular weekly flights
"Qanot Sharq" airline will operate regular flights twice a week — on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Passengers will travel on comfortable A-330 aircraft equipped with spacious cabins and modern amenities, making the long-distance journey smooth and enjoyable.
Busan — a hub of the sea and economy
Busan is South Korea’s second-largest city and home to the country’s biggest seaport. It is famous for its beautiful beaches, historic landmarks, modern shopping centers, wide highways, and tourist attractions. Busan is also known for hosting international film festivals, sporting events, and business forums.
Due to its strategic coastal location, Busan plays a major role in South Korea’s foreign trade relations. It serves not only as a transport hub but also as an economic center. Both local and foreign investors consider Busan a promising destination.
Bilateral relations reach a new level
The new air route will not only boost tourism but also enhance cooperation in education, healthcare, trade, and culture. Student exchange programs, business forums, and academic conferences between Tashkent and Busan universities are expected. Diplomatic relations between the two countries may also grow stronger.
New opportunities open up for tourists
The newly added route to Busan offers tourists a chance to explore South Korea’s unique coastal nature, national cuisine, and cultural heritage. In turn, Uzbek entrepreneurs will gain access to Busan’s industrial and logistics infrastructure.
In conclusion, the launch of the direct Tashkent–Busan air route opens a new chapter in the relationship between the two countries. It is not just a convenient transport solution, but also a major step in strengthening diplomatic, economic, and interpersonal ties. For travelers, Busan is no longer a faraway destination — it has become a city of new opportunities just one flight away. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
