Another convenience has been created for passengers in the Tashkent metro. Modern info kiosks have been launched in the capital’s metro, through which passengers can now purchase paper tickets using cash.
Currently, 24 info kiosks are in operation, installed at the entrance of each station. Notably, the devices do not provide change for cash payments — if an excess amount is inserted, the remaining balance is transferred to the passenger’s mobile phone number.
According to the project organizers, the number of info kiosks will be gradually increased, and by the end of the year their total is planned to reach 200. Thus, all 50 stations of the capital’s metro will be equipped with modern devices.
In the future, the functionality of the info kiosks will be further expanded. They will allow payment for housing and communal services, mobile communication, cash withdrawal from cards, as well as other interactive services.
This initiative is being implemented by ATTO and the Tashkent Metro in cooperation with one of the leading fintech companies — Alif. Experts emphasize that info kiosks are an important step in digitalizing the system, providing passengers with fast services, and saving their time.
It should be noted that earlier it was reported that, following the reduction of metro ticket offices, some employees would undergo retraining and be redirected to new professions. This demonstrates that digital reforms in the transport sector are steadily expanding.
