According to the Ministry of Energy, a new underground gas storage facility will be built in the Kasan district of Kashkadarya region. The Ministry reported this to Gazeta.
According to the information, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between the Ministry of Energy and China National Petroleum Corporation on conducting preliminary research work on the construction of an underground gas storage facility.
The project will be implemented on the basis of the Karabair deposit. According to the results of scientific research, the XII horizon of this field was recognized as optimal for the construction of a gas storage facility.
Once the facility is operational, it will be able to store 1.5 billion cubic meters of active natural gas.
Recall that in October 2024, the Minister of Energy provided information about two underground gas storage facilities operating in the country - Gazli and Khojaabad.
The Minister also stated that a working group has been formed for the Sokh gas storage facility, and the investigation is ongoing. This warehouse is located in Kyrgyzstan, and compressors and other technological equipment are located in Uzbekistan.
