According to the National Statistics Committee, more than 7.5 million foreign tourists visited Uzbekistan in January-August 2025. This is almost 2.5 million more than in the same period last year, and the growth was 49.1 percent.
The largest number of tourists came from neighboring countries. In particular, 2.16 million people (+48.9%) came from Kyrgyzstan, 1.769 million (+73.5%) from Kazakhstan, and 1.699 million (+15.6%) from Tajikistan. The number of visitors from Russia also increased by 25%, reaching 663.2 thousand people.
Afghanistan entered the top ten for the first time - fifth place with 304.5 thousand people. 243.5 thousand guests from Turkmenistan took the sixth place, and this indicator showed more than twofold growth. China took the lead in distant foreign countries - 135.4 thousand tourists, which is three times more than last year.
The majority of tourists - 5.16 million people - came to visit relatives. Also, 1.15 million people came for recreation and travel, 837.5 thousand for business trips, and 287.7 thousand for commercial purposes. 62 thousand people came for treatment, and 14.2 thousand foreign students came to study.
