According to the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan No. 676 dated October 25, 2025, from April 1, 2026, drivers will also be awarded penalty points for violations recorded by automated photo and video systems installed on roads. This innovation aims to ensure road safety and reduce road accidents in the country.
Now, points will also be awarded for violations recorded by a camera or radar. Points are awarded to the owner of the vehicle or to the driver who used it by power of attorney, insurance policy, or waybill.
For information, the penalty points system came into effect on June 1, 2025, and was previously applied only in cases formalized by traffic police officers. Now, since it is possible to identify the driver through camera systems, this practice is being expanded.
According to the decree, if a driver does not violate traffic rules within 12 months, points will not be awarded for the next first violation. Also, if a driver with a penalty point does not commit another violation within six months, two points will be deducted from him.
If a driver reaches 12 points within a year, information about this will be automatically sent to the court. According to the court decision, such drivers may be deprived of their driver's license for a period of 6 months to 3 years.
Experts emphasize that the new system not only strengthens accountability but also encourages drivers to strictly follow the rules. This, in turn, serves to increase the level of road safety.
