New opportunities for household income are expanding in Surkhandarya

During his visit to Surkhandarya region, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev familiarized himself with the activities of the "Household School" in Termez district and reviewed practical projects aimed at water-saving technologies and providing income-generating employment for the population. On February 26, 2026, the President's official website reported that in Surkhandarya, the practice of harvesting household plots three times a year is expanding.

The Head of State got acquainted with the presentation of localized equipment and machinery in the water management sector. It was noted that by producing water-saving technologies and modern irrigation systems locally, it is possible to reduce costs, rational and efficient use of water resources in the context of climate change, as well as promptly meet the needs of farmers and the population. Therefore, the President emphasized the need to pay even greater attention to this area, especially strengthening scientific cooperation. Opinions of this content are also presented in regional official sources.

The "Household School" is attracting attention not as a simple educational center, but as a practical school specializing in the effective use of household plots, the introduction of high-yielding crops, and the study of modern methods of processing, storing, and packaging products. It is said that the institution operates on the basis of financial support from banks, and the main goal of the project is to bring unemployed and low-income families to a stable source of income. Here, the scientific foundations of agriculture, technologies for growing high-yielding products, and modern methods of household plots are practically taught.

The innovative school covers the Termez, Muzrabat, Kyzyryk, Bandikhan, Angor, and Djarkurgan districts. It includes an educational building, a greenhouse on three hectares, and an educational and experimental plot on three hectares. The greenhouse cultivates bananas, papayas, rosemary, lavender, lemon, fig, broccoli, bell peppers, and other crops adapted to the Surkhandarya climate. At the same time, seedling and flower growing have been established, and a drip irrigation system has been implemented.

One of the most noteworthy aspects is that the practice of harvesting three times a year is being taught here. Scientists, industry specialists, and experienced farmers are involved in the educational process. To date, about 1,300 unemployed and low-income citizens have completed special courses and become self-employed through the effective use of their household plots or leased land. It is noted that the khokim's assistants are sending 220 landowners monthly and up to 2,700 annually for training. The reimbursement of students' training costs through a voucher system also increases the practical value of the project.

Course participants are practically demonstrated the methodology of planting high-yielding crops and obtaining an average income of 10-15 million soums per sotka of land. The fact that "Agrostar" companies provide listeners with seeds and seedlings and organize the purchase of grown products shows that this system is becoming not only theoretical, but also a fully functioning economic chain.

During the visit, the president also got acquainted with the practice of obtaining three harvests from household plots, industrial gardens, and a presentation of water-saving technologies. He also spoke with entrepreneurs engaged in the processing and export of fruits and vegetables, emphasizing the importance of creating added value through processing and mastering the cultivation of new plants for the region, including citrus and tropical fruits. In short, this experience in Surkhandarya is viewed not as a simple agricultural project, but as a practical model aimed at creating employment, increasing income, and forming a new agricultural culture while conserving water.
