Uzbek workers will join Italian farms

Officials from Uzbekistan and Italy held talks on sending Uzbek citizens to seasonal jobs in Italy’s agricultural sector. The meeting was attended by Migration Agency head Behzod Musayev, Uzbekistan’s Agriculture Minister Ibrokhim Abdurakhmonov, Italy’s Agriculture Minister Francesco Lollobrigida, and representatives of "Confagricoltura".

During the talks, the sides reached agreements on attracting Uzbek workers to Italy’s farming industry. As part of these efforts, Uzbekistan’s Migration Agency signed a cooperation deal with Italy’s "Associazione Imprese Ortofrutticole".

Under the agreement, Uzbek citizens will be sent for seasonal work lasting from three to nine months. Marco Salvi, the president of the association, said he is ready to provide jobs for 100 people in 2026 as part of a pilot project.

The organization brings together more than 35 major Italian companies in the fruit and vegetable sector. Its activities cover the full agricultural chain, from farming and production to export, creating new opportunities for legal labor migration from Uzbekistan.
