Five Uzbek Taekwondo Athletes to Compete at the Rome Grand Prix

We once again look forward to outstanding victories from our skilled athletes, who continue to proudly represent Uzbekistan on the international sporting stage. The prestigious World Taekwondo Rome Grand Prix, hosted by the Italian capital, has entered an intense phase. Today, on the second day of competition, five promising and formidable members of Uzbekistan’s national team will step onto the court for highly important bouts.
According to official information provided by the press service of the National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan, our compatriots will face serious and experienced opponents in the opening round.

In today’s intense and fiercely contested bouts, our representatives will take on the following opponents on the court:
In the +67 kg weight category: Our experienced national-team leader, Svetlana Osipova will begin her campaign. Her first opponent will be the winner of the bout between Ruby Mekay (Great Britain) and Da Bin Song (Republic of Korea).
In the −68 kg weight category: Our talented taekwondo athlete Diyorbek To‘xliboyev will face home representative Ludovico Yurlaro (Italy), while another compatriot competing in the same category, Najmiddin Qosimhojiyev will take on Mateusz Kranowski (Poland).
In the +80 kg weight category (heavyweight division): Two of our compatriots will also fight for gold among the heaviest athletes. Marat Mavlonov will try to overcome Eltaj Gafarov (Azerbaijan) in the opening round, while Yodgorbek Jo‘raboyev will step onto the court for a challenging bout against Jonathan Hili (United States).
